Day 1 – Arrival in Montreal – Your Canada Train Trip Begins
Arrive in the exciting city of Montreal, where you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel. You’ll have a free day to explore this city at your leisure. Enjoy a cold beer in the sunshine on one of the patios of St. Catherine Street, watch the street performers or go out for the evening and enjoy the nightlife.

Travelling can be tiring, and we want to make sure you don’t eat at the tourist trap restaurant across the street from your hotel. Sample the best food that Montreal has to offer; created with a certain ‘French flair’, showcasing the finest, freshest regional products. Relax – you’re in good hands with Fresh Tracks Canada. Day 2 – Montreal
Bienvenue à Montréal! The city of Montreal features classic European charm with a Canadian twist. Spend today exploring the sights, including the gorgeous architecture and ornate interior of the Notre Dame Basilica. You’ll love the fascinating blend of old and new here in Montreal, from the stone buildings to the modern skyscrapers.

• Option 1: Hop on/Hop off Bus Tour
Hit all the snapshot stops along this route that takes in landmarks including the Notre Dame Basilica, Bonsecours Market and Mont Royal Park. You oversee your itinerary and can hop on and hop off as much as you like for the full day!

• Option 2: Montreal Highlights by Bike
A 3-hour tour by bike that takes in major sights and neighborhoods. Hear interesting snippets on histories and anecdotes about the areas you visit. Of course, you’re going to build up an appetite, and this tour takes you to a farmer’s market where you can indulge in a delicious picnic topped off with a pastry or ice-cream.

• Option 3: Walking Food Tour
Explore ‘The Main’ – Canada’s answer to The Lower East Side, where you will find culinary masterpieces of French, British, Chinese, Eastern European, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Latin American and North African Heritage. As well as trying some tasty morsels, this tour tells the story of the arrival of these groups of immigrants, their roots and the communities they formed in Montreal. Visit landmarks, ethnic grocers, delis and specialty shops, lunch counters and mom & pop spots along the way. A tour for those who enjoy experiencing a city like a local and getting off the beaten path.

Day 3 – VIA Rail Canada – Montreal to Quebec City
This morning, listen to the whistle calling as you board the comfortable and well-appointed Corridor train - bound for historic Quebec City. Settle into a cozy window seat and watch the scenery go by. You’ll travel along the northern shore of the St. Lawrence before crossing the Trois-Rivieres and then the picturesque town of Cap-de-la-Madeleine. When you arrive in historic Quebec City, you could be forgiven for thinking that you are in Europe - this place is filled with cobblestone buildings and French-inspired architecture.
Day 4 - Quebec City
Your Quebec train vacation continues with wonderful excursions exploring one of Canada’s most historic settlements - Quebec City.
Today you have 3 options to choose from to help you enjoy Quebec and its surrounding area to its fullest.
• Option 1: Quebec Bus Tour
Spend the day discovering Quebec City’s French Canadian culture. From your comfortable seat, marvel at the beautiful architecture of the fortified city, visit historic sites commemorating the battles between French and English, and enjoy a delightful sightseeing bus tour to experience this unique city.

• Option 2: Private Military Walking Tour
A great option for history buffs, this tour allows you to discover Quebec City’s role as a military city and learn how various conflicts and sieges have shaped the 400-year-old capital. Visit the Citadel and its associated museum to hear of soldiers’ testimonies, and view photos and videos of various conflicts that the Royal 22e Regiment has been involved in since its creation in 1914. From July to the beginning of September you may also see the changing of the guard. Visit the Plains of Abraham where the well-known battle took place between the French and British Armies in 1759.

• Option 3: The Food Tour – Canadian Signature Experience
So confident are the folks that run this tour – that they simply called it ‘The Food Tour’ – the only food tour you will need to take! Ready your taste buds, because this tour covers seven different venues, and you will sample about 15 different products. Expect to try food of French Canadian origin at venues named Le Tournebroche (organic rotisserie), La Buche (Traditional Quebecois Cuisine) and Creperie le Billig (Crepes) and Le Moine Échanson (Organic wine).

Day 5 – Depart from Quebec City
You’ve seen much of French Canada’s charms in only five days and now your journey has come to an end. We will transfer you from your hotel to the airport so that you can board your flight home with plenty of great stories to share from your Canadian vacation.
