Day 1 – Arrive in Halifax
A friendly driver greets you at the Halifax Airport before taking you to your stylish hotel. Enjoy the view from Citadel Hill, stroll along the lively waterfront, and explore leafy, manicured parks and gardens nestled between heritage buildings. Halifax is home to a thriving arts, theater and culinary scene begging to be discovered.

Day 2 – Explore Halifax
Halifax is the largest port in Canada’s Maritime Provinces and has strong Celtic links
a town full of history. Today, you’ll want to stroll along the cobbled streets exploring galleries and shops and dine out on fresh seafood, the local delicacy.

• Option 1: Private Historic Halifax Tour
Learn about the rich history of Nova Scotia’s capital. You’ll visit historic sites on this four-hour tour all while learning about their place in Halifax’s history. This tour will help you navigate your way through the depths of Halifax’s past in a fun and engaging way!

Halifax Food Tour
There is nothing like a food tour to engage the senses! Visit historic landmarks and stroll along the waterfront, check out all the sights, and taste the best local food Halifax has to offer. From fresh market offerings to local dishes, this tour gives you an authentic taste of the downtown core. This is a tour for travelers who like to get off the beaten path and see what many tourists miss.

Day 3 – Explore the charming South Shore
Choose from the following 3 options to help you explore the area around Halifax:

• Option 1: Private Peggy’s Cove Tour
This tour is a photographer’s dream come true. Travel down the Eastern Shore of the Aspotagan Peninsula through small communities, past beautiful beaches, and fantastic ocean views. Learn about the history of the place and people from your knowledgeable driver guide. This tour saves the best for last with a stop in Peggy’s Cove, one of the most photographed places in North America.

Private Lunenburg Photography Tour
Explore Lunenburg
a delightful and vividly colourful UNESCO World Heritage Site. Allow the town and its citizens to mesmerize you with tales of days gone by as you weave your way around taking photos that will make your friends at home green with envy. This tour is catered to all abilities, from absolute beginners to seasoned professionals.

• Option 3: Private Winery Tour to the Annapolis Valley
Sip your way through Nova Scotia wine country today! Discover award winning wines from the Annapolis Valley. Your day will be filled with learning all about the fantastic wines produced in this area, and taking in the stunning scenery.

Day 4 – Drive to Cape Breton including Glenora Distillery Tasting
Meet your professional guide today, who will be with you over the next four days as you explore the highlands of Cape Breton Island. You’ll be driven through the Nova Scotian countryside – all the while you’ll learn how colonists and First Nations shaped the province. After crossing onto the island you’ll be treated to a tour and tasting at the Glenora Distillery before heading to your home for the next three nights, Baddeck. You’ll overnight in Baddeck, overlooking Bras d’Or Lake.

Day 5 – Explore the Cabot Trail
Spend the day driving along the Cabot Trail. Your guide will handle the twists and turns of the road while you can keep both hands focused on photographing the dramatic coastal landscape. Many opportunities exist to stop at trail heads and lookout points. Ending back in Baddeck this evening, you’ll have a chance to visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site, to see the region that inspired his genius.

Insider tip: Today can be customized to feature a visit to the Gaelic College to learn some step-dancing, language and music. Or you can have a morning or afternoon adventure sea kayaking or on a puffin boat trip! Speak with one of our vacation advisors about all the possibilities!

Day 6 – Visit the Historic Fortress of Louisbourg
Step back in time to the largest historical recreation in North America. Modeled after the French fortified town from the 1700s, you’ll be quite literally immersed in the region’s rich history. Period-accurate soldiers, nobles and serfs will instruct you on their original way of life, and there are many interactive activities available.

This evening, you have opportunity to participate in a Ceilidh (pronounced Kay-Lee). A ceilidh is a kitchen party where everyone is welcome to perform, or just dance the night away to the lively music of fiddles and bagpipes. This is truly an authentic Cape Breton celebration that will round out your escapade!

Day 7 – Return to Halifax
Today you’ll depart from Cape Breton and make a stop in Pictou. During your stop, you have time to tour Hector Heritage Quay, which includes quaint shops and a full-size ship replica you can explore. Overnight in Halifax.

Day 8 – Depart from Halifax International Airport
Today your exploration of Halifax and Cape Breton comes to an end. You will be transferred to the airport to connect with your return flight.
